Why the gap exists

That gap is not an accident. It comes from six things buyers say out loud.

Six-month lump-sum billing.

Kommo's billing FAQ says "monthly payment is not currently available" and the minimum subscription is six months. A 5-seat Advanced workspace's first invoice is $750, paid upfront. Cancel mid-term and the remainder is non-refundable per their Refund Policy.

AI is a separately metered add-on.

Kommo's AI agent is a credit package on top of the plan: Starter 5,000, Growth 50,000, Scale 100,000 per month. Unused credits don't roll over. Run out and the AI agent "stops replying in external chats" until you upgrade. Per Kommo's docs, the agent is inbound-only — it cannot start conversations.

Setup is heavier than the homepage suggests.

G2 reviewer Gabriel L.: "Initial setup can be overwhelming, especially around automations and integrations." Capterra users mention paying external partners because "Kommo's own support is not efficient enough." It feels like a 15-year-old CRM with messaging layered on top, not a chat-first tool.

All users on the same plan.

Kommo's billing rules say every user in the workspace must be on the same plan. One marketing manager needs Pro features and the whole team — five, ten, thirty seats — upgrades with her. That structure is rational for sales orgs and brutal for cross-functional D2C teams.

WhatsApp sync reliability is the loudest complaint.

A Trustpilot review reports WhatsApp messages not syncing for five days, with hundreds of customer messages unanswered. A Brazilian Shopify merchant says the Kommo Shopify integration drops about once a week. On r/WhatsappBusinessAPI, one operator described peak-season sync issues with "we are losing money."

Is Kommo the same as amoCRM?

Yes. amoCRM officially rebranded to Kommo in October 2022. Same company (QSoft LLC, San Francisco), same product lineage, in production since 2009. The "messenger-based CRM" positioning and AI agent push are the newer layers on top of a 15-year-old sales-CRM core.

Can I pay Kommo monthly?

Not on the .com pricing page. Kommo's billing FAQ explicitly says "monthly payment is not currently available" and the minimum subscription is six months — discounts kick in at 9, 12 and 24-month commitments. The Shopify App Store path bills monthly at $25/seat, but that's a separate channel with different entitlements. Spur, by comparison, bills monthly or annually with no minimum term and a 7-day free trial.

Is Spur cheaper than Kommo?

For a 5-person D2C team that needs an AI agent and broadcasts: yes. Our AI Accelerate plan is $1,526/yr all-in. Kommo Advanced × 5 seats is $1,500/yr for the plan alone, but the AI agent is a separate credit add-on — realistic total ~$2,700/yr. For a 2-person sales team on Kommo Base without AI, Kommo can be cheaper. Compare apples to apples — the right number is total cost across plan + AI + channels, not the sticker.

Does Kommo have AI?

Yes — and any "alternative" page that tells you otherwise is wrong. Kommo has a real AI agent that uses knowledge sources, runs defined actions, connects to Shopify / Lazada / NuvemShop / WooCommerce and supports multilingual replies. The constraints that matter for D2C buyers: it's a separately metered credit add-on (Starter 5,000 / Growth 50,000 / Scale 100,000 per month, no rollover), it's inbound-only per Kommo's docs ("AI agents only reply to incoming messages and cannot start conversations"), and the agent is scoped to one per pipeline stage. Ours is bundled, multi-channel from one config, and runs proactive flows alongside.

Can I keep Kommo and add Spur for WhatsApp / Instagram?

Yes — and for plenty of teams it's the right setup. Keep Kommo for sales pipelines, deal stages, lead cards and reporting. Add Spur for WhatsApp broadcasts, Instagram comment-to-DM, cart recovery and the AI customer-conversation layer. We talk to your CRM via REST API, webhooks and HTTP Request actions inside flows. Does Kommo have a Shopify app?

Yes. The Kommo Shopify app costs $25/mo per seat, sits at 3.7★ across 14 reviews and can sync customers, products, orders, create leads per order, and segment customers. Per Kommo's own docs, only one Shopify store can be linked per Kommo account, order tracking depends on Shopify sync intervals (delays happen), and changes from Kommo don't sync back to Shopify (you can't cancel or archive orders from Kommo). What about TikTok, Telegram, WeChat?

Kommo has them, we don't. We focus on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and web chat. If TikTok inbox, Telegram, WeChat or Viber are core to your customer mix, stay on Kommo or pair it with a dedicated tool. Worth knowing that Kommo's own TikTok docs flag hard regional limits (no EU / Switzerland / UK users) and a 10-message-per-48-hours cap after a customer messages you.

How does Spur handle security and compliance?
